ARRIVING IN NYC

At the AIRPORT. Security no longer checks your luggage tags to see if they match the luggage you walk off with. So anyone can walk off with your bag. So keep a sharp eye out for your luggage. If someone who requests to act as your tour guide approaches you on the street or at the airport, bus depot etc., politely refuse and walk away. There have been cases where tourists hire these people and then are eventually robbed in their hotel rooms. You should approach only legitimate tour guide companies.

YELLOW TAXI RIDES
The price on the meter is for a car load of max 4 people, most cabs might let you squeeze in 5 people but some won't. Beware that some cabbies will tell customers the price on the meter is for each person in the cab. This is not true and is against the law. However, this does not apply if you agree on group ride fares from La Guardia Airport.

FARES:
JFK to Manhattan - The flat fare is $30.00 plus any tolls. The meter will not be turned on and the night surcharge will not be added.
